“…each kindness reaching toward another…”

I love being here.

I love the Words and the Rhythm

of many Hearts reaching out.

I love being here.

I love reading about your lives

and sharing mine.

Our journeys are different;

Our journeys are the same;

There is support and warmth and wisdom.

There is laughter too,

and Love.

Who Knew?

Strangers on a train, passing on the street,

driving by and looking past…

That could be us;

but it is not.

 As Dorianne Laux says,

“…All day it continues, each kindness
reaching toward another…”

Thank you for this;

Reaching out Toward…

Peace, Jen

For the Sake of Strangers
By Dorianne Laux

No matter what the grief, its weight,
we are obliged to carry it.
We rise and gather momentum, the dull strength
that pushes us through crowds.
And then the young boy gives me directions
so avidly. A woman holds the glass door open,
waiting patiently for my empty body to pass through.
All day it continues, each kindness
reaching toward another—a stranger
singing to no one as I pass on the path, trees
offering their blossoms, a retarded child
who lifts his almond eyes and smiles.
Somehow they always find me, seem even
to be waiting, determined to keep me
from myself, from the thing that calls to me
as it must have once called to them—
this temptation to step off the edge
and fall weightless, away from the world.

  3. I keep getting this image of people sitting cross-legged on the floor. Each places his/her hands on the shoulders before them – everyone, all – what a web of touching, transmitting warmth and love…A Universal Web of Love.

    This is what I see in your poem Jen. I wonder if you had this imagery but this is what I perceive from your words.

    All peace and luv to you from a friend, Eric 🙂

  4. Beautiful poetry – yours and hers.
    Surprisingly beautiful bonds formed. Who ever would have guessed? Not me, that’s for sure.
    I think if we were in the same box car, I would feel your heart in the dark and know it was YOU! 😀
    grace and peace, my friend

  5. Refreshing words that bring all closer in support with so many miles in-between. Thanks for your passionate writings. Edie
