“Wait” by Galway Kinnell

Grief  a  lingering movement of the Heart, not to be rushed or pushed or hassled away.

Grief  brings the ones left  Closer.

Closer is worth the battle and the ache. Closer is the only thing that really counts.

Grief brings the ones left Closer.

Time, they say, heals all wounds.

 No.

Some wounds are meant to be left open to the Sun.

Some wounds remind us

We are Alive.

    Peace,  Jen

Wait

Galway Kinnell

Wait, for now.
Distrust everything, if you have to.
But trust the hours. Haven’t they
carried you everywhere, up to now?
Personal events will become interesting again.
Hair will become interesting.
Pain will become interesting.
Buds that open out of season will become lovely again.
Second-hand gloves will become lovely again,
their memories are what give them
the need for other hands. And the desolation
of lovers is the same: that enormous emptiness
carved out of such tiny beings as we are
asks to be filled; the need
for the new love is faithfulness to the old.

Wait.
Don’t go too early.
You’re tired. But everyone’s tired.
But no one is tired enough.
Only wait a while and listen.
Music of hair,
Music of pain,
music of looms weaving all our loves again.
Be there to hear it, it will be the only time,
most of all to hear,
the flute of your whole existence,
rehearsed by the sorrows, play itself into total exhaustion.

      • sorry to hear that, thinking of you. i will be just moving away soon and i enjoyed life here and made close friends for the first time, really ever. so hard to go. i also found out that someone i care about is now dying of cancer, we thought he might have beat it…now it seems not. i will not be here, if he passes away. blech! i used to live numb, now i feel, and it seems all i feel is hurt…anyway, i don’t want to bring you down when you’re hurting. there is lots of good in my life too 🙂
